The SD series engine is a preferred power source for large tractors and other agricultural equipment. It is an advanced engine with a new design and advanced technology, featuring a high reliability, low fuel consumption and a fast transient response. The engine torque reserve coefficient is greater than 35% with a power range of 180-360PCS, thus meeting Tier III, V off-road emission standards.

The SD series engine prototype was jointly designed by SMAN and AVL (Austria) based on domestic fuel quality and user habits. In 2005,SMAN carried out a reinforced design and 4-valve upgrade in cooperation with Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) of the United States. In accordance with the American heavy-duty diesel engine standards, the SD series engine is designed as an environmentally friendly power product that meets higher emission requirements. The SD series engines are popular, with more than 1,500,000 sets in circulation.

Features

Fuel system It utilizes a DENSO electronic control system with the injection pressure of 2,000bar. The 7-hole injection nozzles are ceramic coated. The precisely controlled multiple injections and vertically, centrally placed injectors result in a uniform fuel atomization and excellent combustion. The fuel consumption is 10-15% lower than similar products, extending the engine life. It fulfills China III, China IV, and above off-road emission standards.
Aspiration method The 2-valve and 4-valve products are optional. Along with an optimized combustion chamber and swirl ratio airway, the turbocharger is chosen for its working condition, power and torque requirements. It increases air intake efficiency and combustion efficiency. The power density is high and load transient response is fast. The torque reserve is no less than 35%.

The energy consumption and operating cost are both low. It features a fast load transient response, strong power, and excellent adaptability to any work condition.

Design features Incorporated with AVL and SwRI, the engine is a high-quality equipment piece that meets North American heavy-duty diesel engine standards. It is designed with a high strength cylinder head and engine block, 4-valve structure, and 180bar peak pressure. All parts of engine comply with the requirements of a 295kW engine.
With the help of an integrated design, the D series engine parts are 20% less than the parts of a conventional diesel engine. It has a simpler structure and smaller size than diesel engines of the same power on the market.

Reliability features Based on the design of a 295kW diesel engine, the SD series has a power range of 180-360PS. It demonstrates the engine's reliability and operating margin. Matching adaptability The SD series engine is available with the displacement of 8.3L and 8.8L, 2-valve and 4-valve, fuel sources of diesel and natural gas.
Without starting aids (such as an air intake heating device), the engine starts at a cold temperature of -15℃. Depending on the customer's working condition, the matching optimization and customization of powertrain is available. There are multiple configurations for flywheel, flywheel housing, engine, air compressor, steering pump and other peripheral components. The oil pan and PTO are available in various structures and types.
